Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using Auto Budget ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.

2. Description of Service

Auto Budget is a personal finance management application that allows you to:

  • Track income and expenses
  • Manage accounts and budgets
  • Parse bank notifications for automatic transaction entry (Android)
  • Sync data across devices via cloud services
  • Use AI-powered transaction categorization (paid feature)
  • Generate financial reports and projections

3. User Accounts

  • You may use the App without creating an account (local-only mode)
  • To enable cloud sync, you must sign in with a Google or Apple account
  • You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account
  • You must not share your account with others

4. Subscription Plans

The App offers the following tiers:

  • Free: Local-only usage with full budgeting features
  • Pro: Cloud sync across devices, data export
  • Pro + AI: All Pro features plus AI-powered transaction parsing and categorization

4.1 Billing

  • Subscriptions are billed through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store
  • Payment is charged to your App Store or Play Store account
  • Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period

4.2 Cancellation and Refunds

  • You can cancel your subscription at any time through your App Store or Play Store settings
  • Refunds are handled by Apple or Google according to their respective refund policies
  • Upon cancellation, you retain access until the end of your current billing period
  • After expiration, your cloud data remains stored but becomes read-only until you resubscribe

4.3 Free Trial

  • Free trials, if offered, automatically convert to paid subscriptions unless cancelled before the trial ends
  • Trial eligibility is determined by the App Store or Play Store

5. User Content and Data

  • You retain full ownership of all financial data you create in the App
  • You grant us a limited license to store, process, and transmit your data solely for the purpose of providing the service
  • You are responsible for the accuracy of data you enter
  • You can export or delete your data at any time

6. AI Features Disclaimer

  • AI-powered features (transaction parsing, categorization) are provided as convenience tools
  • AI features use a third-party AI service to parse and categorize transactions. When you use AI features, only the notification or transaction message text is transmitted — no personally identifiable information (name, email, account number, or user ID) is included
  • By using AI features, you acknowledge that message text will be processed by our AI provider subject to their terms of service
  • AI suggestions are not financial advice and may contain errors
  • You should always review and verify AI-generated transaction data before accepting it
  • We are not responsible for financial decisions made based on AI suggestions

7. Notification Listener (Android)

  • The notification listener feature reads notification content to extract transaction data
  • This feature requires explicit user permission and can be revoked at any time
  • We do not store raw notification content beyond the immediate parsing process
  • We do not access notifications from apps unrelated to financial transactions

8. Prohibited Uses

You agree not to:

  • Use the App for any unlawful purpose
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
  • Interfere with or disrupt the App's servers or infrastructure
  • Use automated scripts to interact with the App's services
  • Share or distribute your account credentials

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:

  • Disclaimer of warranties: The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without any warranty, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement
  • We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of any data or calculations
  • The App does not provide financial, tax, or investment advice
  • We are not liable for any financial losses resulting from use of the App
  • We are not liable for data loss, though we make reasonable efforts to protect your data
  • Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App in the 12 months preceding the claim
  • Indemnification: You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Auto Budget, its operators, and affiliates from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your misuse of the App or violation of these Terms
  • No class actions: To the extent permitted by applicable law, you waive any right to participate in a class action lawsuit or class-wide arbitration against us

10. Termination

  • You may stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it
  • We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms
  • Upon termination, your right to use the App ceases immediately
  • Your local data remains on your device; cloud data will be deleted upon account deletion

11. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Changes will be posted with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance.

12. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law, without regard to conflict of law principles.
